Description: Consists of correspondence from William Pitt Lynde to his wife Mary E. Lynde, newspaper clippings, pencil sketches, some personal business records, and a mortgage and deed. Lynde was a Milwaukee attorney, and a founding member of an early Milwaukee law partnership known as Finch & Lynde. Lynde would also serve as Territorial Attorney General, U.S. District Attorney, U.S. Congressman, Mayor of Milwaukee, and as a member of both the State Senate and Assembly.
